1984 VW Westfalia, 4 speed manual transmisson - for $6500.00
I am the Westy's second owner and lucky for you – both of us are/were mechanically impaired – all work on engine has been done by actual mechanic(s) and I have all of the receipts to prove it! This bus has been well taken care of (I wanted a Westy, not a hobby) It has approx 45 K on new motor and clutch. I had new interior installed June 2001, new paint and rubber November 2001. This bus is clean. In addition, it has a new sound system complete with 5 disc CD changer – Tinted windows, Hawaiian Curtains and wood floors (actually they are vinyl – but it looks like wood). .

As a camper – you cant beat it – both beds work great – the fridge chills down nicely, the water system works like a charm as well as the stove. The Canvas is clean – no rips, only a minor issue with the front zipper (I solved it with three safety pins) and it has a deep cycle aux. battery for long weekends.

You may be asking - that sounds great, but why sell it? Well, I did the ultimate upgrade to a Sportsmobile, and now it sits begging for someone to drive it to the beach (If you surf, I may be convinced to leave on it's plates "MALUHBU" now that’s worth the price of admission right there!!!) I still use it to get around town and take it for the occasional surf trip (I Feel sorry for it, it misses the beach) but it does need a good home.

If you are interested, drop me an email (larry@luvjoy.com)– I will take any pictures you ask and email ‘em back. If you are one of those mechanical types – I’ll hook you up with my mechanics name and number – you can talk to him about it. If you’re local to him, I may be inclined to meet you there with the bus (Woodland Hills, CA). The only thing I ask of you is to keep the requests legitimate – if you are a tire kicker looking for an idiot who will take the first low ball bid – go away, I am not him (hence forth the "reserve").

I suppose I should mention that I have the pink slip, and the title is clear. Registration is current PENDING A SMOG CHECK (I forgot to do that when i sent the DMV my check - oops)

OOP'S Forgot to mention that the odometer reads about 225,000.

Vehicle Condition

As mentioned above – it is in good condition. The paint is new, The rubber is new, the interior is new. The engine has about 45K on a rebuild; the clutch was done at same time. The Exhaust system was recently replaced as well as the radiator and heater core. Like I said – I wanted a Westy, not a hobby. The one thing that does not work is the AC, it is wired for it, but the compressor is shot – I just took the belt off of it, as I never used it anyway. If I were to keep it, I would probably end up replacing the fuel lines – just for safety’s sake (they are 18 years old). It has about 25k on the tires, about 16K on the brakes. It has both the front and rear heaters (both work great on chilly mornings). When bidding please bear in mind that this is sold as is. You will need to do the smog check (You can take it to the local mechanic who did all the work and have him do it) This Westy is 18 years old – and I am telling you everything I know about it – but IT IS 18 YEARS OLD!!! It runs strong and has been very reliable. Again, if you wanna see pictures, email (smahr@earthlink.net) and I will do my best to take them – I work late, so daylight pictures might be kinda tough.
